Vellayil in Kozhikode declared as critical containment zone of COVID-19
Kozhikode: The district collector has declared Vellayil region, corporation ward 66 in Kozhikode as a critical containment zone of COVID-19. Meanwhile, on Saturday, Kozhikode district recorded the highest number of 232 COVID positive cases.
Deputy collector E Anitha Kumari has been appointed as the incident commander at Vellayil ward.
Vellayil which was declared as critical containment zone on August 22 has been placed under complete lockdown as per containment strategy.
All employees except in police, Fire and Safety, KSEB, KWA, food supply, revenue treasury, LSGI (with minimum staff) are directed to work from home. All other activities are restricted in the ward.
Meanwhile, road traffic through the national highway and state highway will be allowed. All other roads will be closed to restrict traffic. The district authority has directed residents in Vellayil to stay at home.
Grocery shops and other shops which sell essential items are allowed to open.
Rapid Response Teams or volunteers will supply essential items to houses. Kozhikode corporation secretary has asked them to ensure their service in the containment zone. The police will ensure that the public is obeying rules as per the COVID protocol.
