Govt tries to take advantage of 'narcotic-jihad' controversy: K Sudhakaran

Kottayam: Criticising the government strongly over the controversial ‘narcotic-jihad’ remark by Pala Bishop, KPCC President K Sudhakaran alleged that the Pinarayi-led LDF government was trying to take advantage of the issue by creating communal segregation in the state.

“Instead of trying to settle the issue, the government tried to make political gain from it,” said Sudhakaran.

He was speaking to media persons after meeting Changanassery Diocese Archbishop Mar Joseph Perunthottam on Thursday. “The Church will not support anything that impedes religious harmony in the state. I got assurance over this during the talks,” said Sudhakaran.

He also said that the inaction from the government forced Congress to intervene to avoid hurting religious sentiments.

Opposition leader VD Satheeshan also accompanied him during the meeting. The duo will also meet Syro Malabar Church Pala Diocese Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangatt on Thursday after 2 pm.
