Thiruvananthapuram: A day after Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor openly expressed his wish to contest for Kerala Assembly, opposition leader VD Satheesan opined that it is the party that decides candidates.
No one must declare candidature on their own. Party will decide on such matters, he said. Those who got any suggestions can inform the party leadership, he added.
Tharoor on Monday had said that he was keen on focusing on Kerala and contesting for Assembly. He was visiting Orthodox church headquarters in Kottayam. This clearly did not go well with Satheesan forcing him to react to the move of Tharoor.

The Thiruvananthapuram MP has been actively participating in events in the state after he did not find any place in the top decision-making bodies of the national leadership. He has been getting warm welcome in the state by party workers, a section of leadership and socio-political organisations as well. However, things are not smooth with the top brass of Congress in Kerala.
It is speculated that Tharoor is aiming for the chief ministerial post.
However, it may be noted that several Congress Lok Sabha MPs have expressed their interest in contesting to the Assembly. Names doing rounds include K Muraleedharan, Hibi Eden, TN Prathapan and Adoor Prakash.
