Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader VD Satheesan slammed the state government for not taking the initiative to resolve the private bus strike called by private bus operators, even as commoners are left in the lurch for the last three days.

Targeting the government over K-Rail spearheaded project SilverLine, Satheesan asked whether the administration is only concerned about the elite class and not commoners. He pointed out that the government is not even interested in having talks with the bus operators.

The indefinite bus strike also affected the students as the annual exams are in progress.

Citing contradictory statements on SilverLine by K-Rail authorities and ministers, Satheesan said that both entities are perplexed without any conscience over the project.

He alleged that the government is suppressing the protest against the project. He also questioned the government for releasing the Detailed Project Report of SilverLine without conducting Social Impact Assessment and Environmental Impact Assessment.
