Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader VD Satheesan on Saturday responded to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Kerala (VACB), announcing a probe against him for allegedly violating Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) in a housing project launched in his constituency.
VD Satheesan said he had previously challenged the Kerala Government to launch a Vigilance probe during an assembly session in 2020. However, a complaint regarding the same had been dismissed by the home department with the knowledge of the Chief Minister, he noted.
Satheesan alleged that the allegations reemerged after UDF came forward against collecting illegal donations in the name of Loka Kerala Sabha.
Following the 2018 flood in Kerala, VD Satheesan launched a project named 'Punarjani' to construct homes for those who lost their houses in the disaster. However, it was later alleged that Satheesan had violated the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA).
