Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader V D Satheesan asked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to clarify the connection of Dharmadom with Muttil tree felling case. He was speaking to the media after attending the Guru Jayanti function.
“We saluted the forest officials in the assembly who took an honest stand in Muttil tree felling case, because the government order itself was in favor of cutting the trees. The smuggling was stopped because some courageous and honest officials who tried to protect the trees,” Satheesan said.
The official, who was close to the brothers who were involved in the tree felling, tried to trap the honest officers in a fabricated case. Despite his public stance, no action was taken against him and the chief minister returned his file. The action against the officer was limited to his transfer.
What is the Dharmadom connection in protecting an officer who intimidated, threatened, and tried to trap the honest officers in a false case who have taken a stand to protect timber in their own department? The Chief Minister should clarify the Dharmadom connection behind this case, he added. Satheesan also alleged that the report shows that the chief minister is directly involved in the incident.
