Kochi: The Vatican will intervene in the nun’s complaint of sexual abuse raised against bishop Franco Mulakkal. It is learnt that actions against the bishop will be taken within two days. The Vatican sought information from the church leadership in Kerala.
Police had issued notice to the bishop on Wednesday to appear for questioning. The bishop clarified that he will not apply for bail.
The Vatican may seek the bishop's resignation. The Vatican wants to avoid a situation of arrest when he is in position.
A hint of Vatican’s stand was given in the press release issued by the office of Mumbai Archbishop Cardinal Oswald Gracias. The press release said that it is better if the bishop stays away from the position.
Cardinal Oswald had been on a visit to Vatican for a few days and returned yesterday night.
Earlier, many commnets were posted on the Facebook page of Vatican demanding action against the bishop. Different departments of Vatican have also received complaints against him. At the same time, the nuns’ protest too has put the Vatican in further trouble.
