Vatican monitoring case against Franco Mulakkal
Kochi: Vatican has reported that they are monitoring the case against Bishop Franco Mulakkal. Cardinals in India who are presently in Vatican declared the matter in a press note after the meeting.
Cardinals Mar George Alencherry, Baselios Cleemis and Oswald Gracias discussed the case with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, secretary of state in Vatican. They informed that the Pope is waiting for the results of police investigation. The cardinals expressed faith in the Indian judiciary.
“I pray for all those who are involved in the nun abuse case,” said Catholic Bishop’s Conference of India (CBCI) president Mumbai Archbishop Oswald Gracias. Hence it is confirmed that the matter is under the consideration of the pope.
When serious allegations were raised against bishops in US and other places, Vatican took immediate action before the judicial verdict. Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether the Vatican will initiate action against Franco Mulakkal when the investigation comes to an end.
