Thiruvananthapuram: Amid mounting pressure, CPM has intervened to subdue the controversy row the SFI attack at the office of Congress chief and parliamentarian Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad. The apparent damage control move comes at a time when Congress has been accusing that the attack was orchestrated with the knowledge of CPM’s high-level leadership.

CPM has directed SFI’s all India president and state president to take action against those involved in the attack.

CPM leadership is of the opinion that there were lapses from the part of Wayanad faction of the party. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan also had talks with Wayanad district secretary P Gagarin.

It is learnt that the leaders pointed out the district leadership failed to ensure caution as SFI activists seemingly conducted the protest march to Rahul Gandhi’s office in an orchestrated manner. Both SFI and district leadership maintained that the attack happened without their knowledge.

CPM has also demanded a course correction from the SFI leaders. CPM’s Wayanad district committees will convene a meeting with SFI leaders. This is expected to turn crucial in deciding the action against those involved in the attack.
