Couple attacked by wild elephant in Kannur; Husband dies


A couple was attacked by a wild elephant on Sunday morning at Vallithode in Kannur district and the husband was killed.

Kannur: A couple was attacked by a wild elephant on Sunday morning at Vallithode in Kannur district and the husband was killed. Justin and his wife Jeni were visiting the church on their bike when the elephant attacked them. Both were rushed to the hospital. Jeni is in critical care.

The elephant’s tusk was broken reportedly when it attacked a lorry. It still continues to roam around the place.

An elephant had recently died here due to an injury. Elephants destroying agriculture is now a common issue in this place. Fences and other measures to protect the farmlands from wild elephants are underway.
