The decision to extend the tenure of the 704 Superclass buses, which have been completed for seven years, was taken due to the fact that buses were not in service during the Covid period.
The duration of Fast Passenger, Super Fast, Super Express, Super Deluxe, Premium AC buses have been extended. The validity of such buses is seven years but these buses have not been running on the road for two years.
The KSRTC MD requested the government an extension of the validity of the buses because of the Sabarimala season, schools reopening and inability to buy new buses. Hence, the extension of validity of buses that completed 6 years and haven’t completed 9 years has been taken into consideration.
