Kochi: The police have sent notice to 17 people, including actor Joju George, for taking part in the off-road race event held in Vagamon. The notice orders Joju George and others to appear before the police directly with the vehicles used in the race and the documents. The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) had also issued a notice in the matter on May 10.
The police have sought an explanation from the actor and others for driving recklessly and in a threatening manner. The visuals of the actor taking part in the race event were shared on social media. KSU filed a complaint with MVD and Vagamon police over this. The KSU Idukki district president asked MVD to book a case against the actor for violating norms.
According to MVD, the actor took part in a race in a restricted area. The authorities pointed out that the race event was held despite restrictions placed by the district collector. MVD had also asked the actor to appear before the authorities along with documents of the vehicle used.
Meanwhile, it is hinted that Joju had appeared before Idukki RTO on Tuesday. It is also reported that RTO recorded Joju’s statements.
The competition was held at MMJ estate under Kannamkulam Arappukadu division. According to the complaint, the competition was organized against the mandates on plantation lands. No safety precautions were taken and the competition was conducted in a hazardous manner.
