Kochi: The blood samples collected from Jomon, driver of a tourist bus that met with an accident in Vadakkencherry, did not show any presence of alcohol.

The blood sample was collected 23 hours after the accident. However, there is also the possibility that the delay in conducting the test might have affected the result. After the accident, there was widespread criticism that he was not subjected to a drug test.

Nine people lost their lives when a tourist bus rammed into the rear side of a KSRTC bus on the national highway in Vadakkencherry. After the accident, he went to the police station and later to a hospital and sought treatment there. However, he absconded from the hospital in the morning. He was later arrested from Kollam while on his way to Thiruvananthapuram. The blood samples were collected after the arrest.
