V Muraleedharan blames state government for transmission of COVID-19 in Idukki and Kottayam

He urged Pinarayi Vijayan and his group to open their eyes and act realistically.

New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan alleged that it was lack of caution from the part of the state government which resulted in the sudden spike in COVID-19 cases in Kottayam and Idukki. The state government was careless in declaring the two districts as green zone as they have been listed red zone within no time, he said.

Muraleedharan also added that even when the Chief Minister and government are propagating Kerala to be a model for the world, he cannot help but point fingers at the government for the transmission of disease in both Idukki and Kottayam.

He urged Pinarayi Vijayan and his group to open their eyes and act realistically. Unless the number of tests are increased, the virus will be all over the state and its people. Muraleedharan took to Facebook to express his opinion.

In the Facebook post, he said that the country is safe only when the last COVID-19 patient is cured of the disease. The post also states that Kerala will have to examine whether it has made any mistakes in its fight against the pandemic. It was the lack of caution, caused by overconfidence, that resulted in transmission of the disease in Idukki and Kottayam.

He also accused the state government of losing the reality of the situation and carried over by the praises showered. Asking the government to open their eyes, V Muraleedharan added that only through testing we can identify whether social transmission has taken place in the region.
