Used PPE kits found littered on premises of Karipur airport
Malappuram: A major lapse in executing safety measures as per COVID-19 protocol was reported at the Karipur international airport. Used PPE kits were found abandoned on the premises of the airport on Sunday.
PPE kits which should be disposed off as per strict conditions were found abandoned carelessly triggering another panic amid COVID-19 outbreak.
Such a lapse was found in the parking area where people get into vehicles to leave from the airport. The waste bin placed here was also filled with PPE kits.
Ambulance drivers, bus workers, air passengers and airlines employees are using PPE kits amid the pandemic outbreak.
These kits should be disposed off as per strict conditions. As more expats are returning home through Karipur airport, PPE kits are largely abandoned here.
On Saturday, the terminal manager of the airport tested positive for COVID-19. Following this, the operation of the airport is in crisis now.
Over 30 people including airport director who have come into contact with the patient were quarantined.
