University College stabbing case: Shivaranjith, Nazeem admit to crime


Five among the main accused are in police custody now. They will be produced before the court and remanded. Meanwhile, the knife used for stabbing Akhil is not recovered yet.

Thiruvananthapuram: The two accused in the stabbing of a student in University College has admitted to the crime. They gave statement that problems existed between both the gangs for over a week and they attacked the student out of sudden provocation. Shivaranjith and Nazeem have admitted they stabbed Akhil.

There were troubles between Akhil’s gang and the culprits for over a week which resulted in the attack, they told police. Recording of their statement still continues. Police arrested Nazeem and Shivaranjith from Kesavadasapuram.

Five among the main accused are in police custody now. They will be produced before the court and remanded. Meanwhile, the knife used for stabbing Akhil is yet to be recovered. This is a crucial evidence in the case. Also, the police have not completely believed the statement of the accused.

The police said that the accused were determined to murder Akhil, according to witness statement. They first attempted to stab Akhil’s friend. But when Akhil ran from the scene, they stopped him and stabbed, it is noted in the FIR.
