University college stabbing case: SFI activist arrested


The police have issued a lookout notice against eight accused in the case.

Thiruvananthapuram: Police on Sunday arrested SFI activist Ijab in connection with the stabbing of Akhil at the university college here. Ijab was taken into custody on Saturday night. He will be produced before the court soon.

A native of Nemom, Ijab is one among the 30 accused named in the case. He is a member of the SFI unit committee in the University college.

Ijab told police that he was at the spot when the tussle between the two student groups, that resulted in the stabbing of Akhil, occurred. However, Ijab said he did not see who stabbed Akhil.

Ijab is one of the 30 accused besides the 7 major accused named by police.

Meanwhile, there is protest against the police as the main accused have not been arrested even after three days of the incident. There are allegations that the police are not conducting searches in the college hostels in the city or at the students center in PMG.

The police have issued a lookout notice against eight accused in the case.
