University college murder bid: Unused answer sheets recovered during raid in house of accused
Thiruvananthapuram: Police on Sunday conducted raids at the houses of the accused involved in the murder attempt of SFI activist Akhil at University college here.
During the raid at the house of primary accused Shivaranjith, police recovered four bundles of unused answer sheets of University of Kerala to which the college is affiliated to and a seal of the physical education director. It is assumed that the answer sheets were used for copying during examinations. A detailed probe will be held into the matter.
Police conducted the raid with the permission of the magistrate. On learning about the raid, media persons came to the spot to cover it. However, the residents tried to attack the media persons. This created tension in the area. The media had received information that people would try to prevent them if they tried to cover the police raid.
There was criticism against the police as they were unable to nab the accused even three days after the stabbing incident. It is in this situation the police decided to take action including conducting raids. The police had arrested three accused soon after issuing a lookout notice against eight accused in the case.
However, the police are yet to conduct searches for the five remaining accused at hostels in the city.
