University College conflict: SFI unit president stabbed me, Akhil tells doctor
Thiruvananthapuram: Following the incident of a student being stabbed during a tussle between two groups at the University College here, Akhil, the injured student, said he was stabbed by Students Federation of India (SFI) unit president Shivaranjith.
Akhil gave the statement to a doctor at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital when he was admitted there for treatment.
In the statement, Akhil clarified that he was stabbed by SFI unit president Shivaranjith while unit secretary Nazeem was standing next to Shivaranjith.
When Shivaranjith was admitted to the medical college, his condition was not stable. Akhil told the doctor about Shivaranjith and Nazeem’s involvement in the stabbing incident. The doctor handed over a report including Akhil’s statements to the police.
The police have requested permission to record Akhil’s statements in detail. However, the doctor will grant permission for the same only after Akhil’s health condition becomes satisfactory.
At present, the police have registered a case based on the statements of 9 witnesses and eyewitnesses. All seven accused named in the case by police are SFI activists.
The witnesses also stated that Akhil was stabbed by Shivaranjith. Now, Akhil’s statement confirms the same.
