Kochi: A group of people symbolically sealed the office room of apostolic administrator Mar Andrews Thazhath on Tuesday, amid the ongoing dispute regarding holy mass at the Ernakulam-Angamaly archdiocese.
The rebel group also blocked the administrator of St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, Father Antony Poothavelil, who had reached the church to offer the unified mass. He returned without offering the mass.
The rebels pasted a letter on the office room door of Mar Andrews stating what they had to say.
The synod of bishops of the Syro-Malabar Church had decided to implement a unified mass system. Believers have been protesting against the unified mass at the St. Mary’s Basilica for the past few days.
The rebel faction said that the new administrator was given a higher position than the vicar of the church to keep them in line. They added that the protests would not end till such decisions were withdrawn.
