Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM is gearing up for the upcoming general elections as measures to train cadres are in full swing. It has started sessions for workers to make them aware of the guidelines. Lok Sabha constituency-level sessions are completed, while assembly-level, local-level and booth-level sessions are still pending.

A worker has been assigned with responsibility of 10 houses. The plan is to form four groups under each booth and the objective is to make the public aware of the various programs and activities of the CPM-led state government. They will also have to patiently listen to the contentions and arguments against the government, so that resolutions can be suggested.

Even members of CPM-aligned service unions will be working at the grassroots. Some of the major guidelines are:

  • Understand of voter's mind
  • Intervene to avert swaying of votes
  • Try to bring back former loyal members who are not in good terms with party
  • Be polite during house visits and become one among them
CPM’s observation is that such measures will be crucial in estimating the number of prospective votes.
