Unauthorised construction in Munnar; Collector’s report backs Renu Raj IAS
Painavu: Idukki collector has submitted a report to revenue minister E Chandrasekharan in connection with the unauthorized constructions by Munnar panchayat. The report backs the actions of sub collector Renu Raj IAS.
The collector’s report states that Renu Raj’s actions in the matter were according to the law. The report also includes statements against S Rajendran MLA.
The construction of the panchayat building in Munnar is in violation of norms. According to rules, buildings should be constructed at least 45 meters away from the river. However, the building which is under construction is only five meters away from the river, states the report. It also indicates this as evidence of violation of rules.
The sub collector had given a report to the collector stating that S Rajendran MLA had insulted her. Renu Raj’s report cited that the MLA’s actions were insulting her as a woman and an officer. The collector’s report to the minister includes this part of Renu Raj’s report. The collector has also sought action to stop the construction.
