Thiruvananthapuram: Following the lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus, two Keralite students are stranded in the US unable to return home.
Thiruvananthapuram natives Anand Sharma and Gautham Menon are students of University of Massachusetts. Their semester was completed and their hostel validity ended on May 30. As they could not move to a new place due to the pandemic, the university extended their stay at the hostel for 13 more days.
The deadline ended on Saturday and the university authorities have asked the students to vacate their hostel rooms. Now they have to find another place of stay which is quite expensive.
Though the students had registered to return to India, they have not received any details regarding the journey. Lack of flights from the US to India also became a setback for the students.
The two are seeking intervention of the Kerala government.
