Guruvayur: The gold idol (Swarna kolam) of the deity was taken in a procession on Saturday, the sixth day (Aaram Vilakk) of the festival, as part of the annual festival of Guruvayur Temple. The gold idol will begin from ‘Kazhcha Sheeveli’, ‘Pallivetta’ and ‘Grama Pradhakshikam’ on the ‘Aaraattu’ days until Wednesday, the last day of the festival. The ‘Ulsava bali’, an important ritual, will be carried out on Monday.

On Saturday, Keezhsanthi Mulamangalam Chaithanyan Namboothiri flagged off the procession of the gold idol for the Kazhcha Sheeveli on Nandan, the elephant. Peruvanam Kuttan Maaraar led the ‘Chenda melam’.

On Monday, along with the Ulsava Bali, the ‘Nivedyam Arppikal’ (offerings) for the other idols will also take place which can extend upto six hours. There will be no Kazhcha Sheeveli on Monday.
