Kozhikode: Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS) chairman, Paleri Rameshan, has dismissed media reports which stated that the society was raided by the Enforcement Directorate.
He stated that it is true that the ED officers visited ULCCS, however, only one officer from ED's Kozhikode unit entered inside. The official examined whether any of the accused in the cases investigated by them is linked to the society in any manner. They returned when they were told that there is no such connection, the chairman stated in a press release.
The ED officers also asked for the Income Tax statement of ULCCS and examined it. That is all that happened. As such, news reports suggesting that ULCCS was raided by ED will only help in defaming an institution that provides livelihood to around 13,000 people, the press release read.
The ULCCS authorities also requested that efforts to defame the institution, which adheres to all cooperative and Income Tax laws and functions legally should be stopped.
