UDF will review CPI (M)’s backdoor appointments if voted to power: Mullappally Ramachandran
Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran said that the state government’s move to make permanent the temporary appointments of thousands of temporary staff with CPI (M) allegiance in various departments was unacceptable.
He added that the UDF will review all the backdoor appointments made by CPI (M) if voted to power.
The government is taking such action by challenging the educated youth. The appointments are made selfishly by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan overruling dissent from department secretaries. This government has cheated the youth. This government turned PSC into a puppet. The CM is following the path of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who demolished the people's trust in constitutional establishments, the Congress leader said.
Reports suggest that Kerala has the highest number of educated youth committing suicide in the country. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, 14,019 people have committed suicide in India. In Kerala, 1,963 unemployed ended their lives. The rate of unemployed committing suicide in Kerala is at 14 percent.
It is in this situation that the Kerala government is resorting to backdoor appointments. This is condemnable as it makes educated youth lose hope of securing a government job, Mullappally Ramachandran said.
A whopping 43.3 lakh people have registered in employment exchanges in Kerala. The state has the highest unemployment rate of 11.4 percent in the country. Unemployment rate in the nation is at just 6 percent.
During its four-and-a-half-year rule, the Kerala government, which was eager to cancel the PSC rank lists which were three years old, did not show interest in preparing new rank lists. This was only to aid backdoor appointments, said Mullappally Ramachandran.
