Thrissur: UDF is planning to field Padmaja Venugopal from Thrissur constituency in the upcoming assembly polls. Though the candidate list is not officially announced, the final decision in this regard has been taken.
Thrissur DCC president M P Vincent said that Padmaja Venugopal is considered as the candidate with highest chance of victory in the constituency. She contested from Thrissur in the previous assembly election also.
Though Thrissur was the stronghold of Congress, LDF won the seat with a majority of 6,987 votes fielding V S Sunil Kumar as candidate last time. During this election season, Padmaja has been active in the constituency far ahead of the election time.
UDF is confident to win Thrissur seat as they managed to improve their lead over LDF in the Lok Sabha election held in 2019 and local body polls in 2020.
