Kochi: The UDF is engaging in below the belt strategies in Thrikkakara as the LDF candidate is winning hearts during the campaign, said chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday. He was mentioning the fake video clip on their candidate Jo Joseph that is being allegedly circulated by the opponents.

CM lashed out at the opposition while inaugurating a public gathering at Kakkanad here.

UDF is plotting such things as they realised that they cannot overcome the acceptance for Jo Joseph in the constituency. UDF has stooped to a new low. LDF workers should expect more such cheap tricks from them in the coming days, he added.

Earlier today, Dr Daya Pascal, wife of Joseph, reacted against the alleged cyberattack unleashed on social media against her husband. She reminded that they have to live in Thrikkakara even after the election and the children have to go to schools as well.

“Jo Joseph is facing brutal cyberattacks soon after he was selected as an LDF candidate in Thrikkakara. We have never taken it as personal as we consider election as a fight not between individuals but between two parties and ideologies. But cyberbullying has crossed all limits now,” said Daya.

CPM leader M Swaraj has filed a complaint against the video with the police and the election commission. Minister P Rajeev said that police have registered an FIR.
