Thiruvananthapuram: The UDF has decided to strengthen its stand in Sabarimala issue as they have realised that they cannot remain inactive anymore. The UDF blamed the government for implementing police rule in Sabarimala in the name of security.
The party sent MLAs Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Adoor Prakash and V. S. Sivakumar to Sabarimala based on this information. The Devaswom Board could not arrange the basic facilities during the pilgrimage season due to the controversies regarding the issues of young women entry into the temple.
The UDF protest will be highlighting the difficulties faced by the devotees due to government action. They have reached a decision that a group of party men including, Ramesh Chennithala, should violate the prohibitory order and get arrested.
The Congress leadership has reached the conclusion that it will not be sensible to remain calm in the issue as many arrests were made at Sabarimala on Sunday night. K. Muraleedharan and K. Sudhakaran are holding up this opinion.
Another major challenge before Congress is that the advantage of the disagreements in the issue should not be centralised on BJP. However, Congress or UDF cannot take an intense stand on the issue like BJP does. They will make an attempt to convince the public that UDF stands with the devotees.
