Joseph assumes that though the UDF ousted Jose K faction, MLAs N Jayaraj and Roshy Augustine will have to cast votes favouring the UDF as they are facing chances of disqualification.

Kottayam: Kerala Congress Joseph faction is planning to turn the UDF’s non-confidence motion against speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan into a trap for Jose K Mani faction.

It is reported that the UDF will move a no-confidence motion against the Speaker in the assembly on July 27 over his alleged links with the gold smuggling case.

P. J. Joseph told the media that his faction will issue a whip to MLAs in Jose faction directing to cast votes favouring the motion against the Speaker. He also declared that if any MLAs violate the whip, they will take action to disqualify them.

Joseph assumes that though the UDF ousted Jose K faction, MLAs N Jayaraj and Roshy Augustine will have to cast votes favouring the UDF as they are facing chances of disqualification.

Among the five MLAs of Kerala Congress, only two are supporting Jose K Mani faction while three have joined Joseph faction.

Joseph, as well as UDF, think that the MLAs in Jose K Mani faction will not go against the directions in the whip. Through issuing the whip, the Joseph faction aims to pressurize Jose K Mani.

Meanwhile, Jose K Mani faction stated that there is no need to accept the whip as the dispute over party symbol and administrative powers of Kerala Congress (M) is under the consideration of the court. Hence, Jose K Mani faction plans to not take part in the voting for the no-confidence motion.

The future of all these political games depend on the approval and voting of the no-confidence motion.
