UDF, Muslim League aim at destroying K. T. Jaleel, alleges A. K. Balan
Thiruvananthapuram: Law Minister A. K. Balan said that the UDF and Muslim League were aiming to destroy K. T. Jaleel. He justified Jaleel accepting religious texts from UAE.
Balan stated that Jaleel did not disclose the details regarding ED questioning him as there was a Supreme Court directive against it.
The Law Minister said that Jaleel will not be safeguarded if proved guilty. It is not the government’s opinion that the action against Jaleel is politically motivated, Balan said. He added that Jaleel was proved innocent in the mark donation controversy.
“Jaleel is also a Minister for Welfare of Minorities and Wakf. He distributed an item that was handed over by the Customs department. Quran is not a banned religious text,” said Balan.
The CPI (M) secretariat, on the other day, had taken a stance that Jaleel need not resign. Following this, the ministers have come out in support of him.
