Thalassery: The CPM candidate in Mamballi Kunnu, ward 27 of Thalassery municipality is contesting the local body poll unopposed.

A Sindhu of CPM, is contesting the local body poll unopposed after UDF candidate Shyamala of Congress, withdrew her nomination.

Shyamala’s proposer Shajikumar filed a complaint with New Mahe police and the returning officer alleging he was unaware that his name was added as the proposer and that it was not his signature in the nomination paper.

The Congress candidate withdrew her nomination as police were preparing for a probe. Only two nominations were filed in the ward. After Shyamala withdrew her nomination, Sindhu is contesting unopposed.

Sindhu, who is contesting for the first time, is the member of Mahila Association Kodiyeri South Village and CPM Kodiyeri Madam Branch.

In the previous election, CPM candidate had won in the ward with a majority of 578 votes.
