UDF bolsters SiverLine protests: regional rallies from May 16, debates, human chain to follow

Kozhikode: The United Democratic Front (UDF) is set to start regional rallies against K-Rail’s SilverLine semi-high speed rail corridor on May 16. MLA MK Muneer (Kozhikode), MP Kodikkunnil Suresh (Ernakulam), MLA Mons Joseph (Kottayam), MP NK Premachandran (Thiruvananthapuram) will lead the rallies.

The rallies will conclude on May 19, said MM Hassan, UDF convenor. The Kozhikode rally will start from Kasaragod and conclude at Muthalakkulam in Kozhikode. The Ernakulam rally is from Piravom to Malappuram while the Kottayam rally is from Thodupuzha to Kottayam. The Thiruvananthapuram rally starts from the capital and will culminate at Alappuzha.

After the rally, Congress will hold discussions across all districts. A human chain is planned along the track of SilverLine on August 15.

UDF will observe May 20, the anniversary of the second Pinarayi ministry, as ‘anti-people day’.
