UAPA arrest: Police erred, action not with the knowledge of CM, says LDF convenor
Thiruvananthapuram: LDF convenor A Vijayaraghavan said that the party stands with the two party workers who were slapped UAPA and arrested for their Maoists links. Police have erred in slapping UAPA. He said that the mistake will be rectified and the decision to slap UAPA was taken by the police without the knowledge of the chief minister.
It was a mistake from the police to arrest and slap UAPA on Alan Suhaib and Thaha Fazal, both branch committee members of CPM. If there is any fault from police then the government will rectify it. LDF government will stand by justice and by the oppressed. He added that this has been made clear by the chief minister himself.
The two students were only arrested and case was booked. No charge sheet has been filed. The government can intervene even now. The government will not allow any violation of citizen rights, Vijayaraghavan said.
