UAE Consulate in Thiruvananthapuram closed temporarily
Thiruvananthapuram: The UAE consulate in Thiruvananthapuram has been closed down temporarily. It is stated that the decision has been taken due to COVID-19.
Employees have been told that they don’t have to come to office due to COVID transmission. Currently, only one officer from UAE is present at the office.
The Consul General had left earlier following the controversies surrounding the gold smuggling case. Following this, the attaché also left the country. The only officer left is UAE native Abdulla. Certificate attestation is the only work going on in the office amidst the pandemic.
This is the second time that the Consulate has been shut down following the pandemic. After being closed last month, the Consulate was reopened on September 28.
