Two youth arrested under UAPA act for alleged Maoist links remanded
Kozhikode: The district sessions court here on Saturday remanded the two youth arrested under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), for alleged links with Maoists, for two weeks.
The court will consider the bail applications of Alain Shuhaib and Thaha Faizal, both natives of Kozhikode, on Monday.
The two were arrested by Pantheerankavu police on Friday night. According to police, the two were arrested for distributing brochures containing Maoist content in protest of the encounter at Manjikkandi forests in Palakkad.
Police claimed that they seized pro-Maoist brochures from the two. Both are CPM branch committee members and law students at Kannur University.
