youth drowned
Palakkad: Two youths drowned in the Kalpathy river near Mattumantha, just three kilometres from here. Murukani natives Vaishnav, 19, and Ajay Krishnan are the deceased.
They had gone to the river to bathe. It was close to their house and they were familiar with the river. But the youngsters were trapped in the mud that had been deposited in a pit in the river.
The fire department and natives searched for hours before finding them. The bodies were shifted to the district hospital. The bodies will be handed over to the relatives after the post mortem on Wednesday. They were employees of a private company in Ernakulam.
