Malappuram: Trekkers trapped on a hill near Keralamkundu Waterfall (Karuvarakundu) were rescued in a joint rescue operation by police, fire & safety officials, and locals.

The incident happened on Wednesday. Yasim, Shamnas and Ajmal, hailing from Koduvannickal, began the climb at around 11 am. Due to rough weather and rainfall in the area, the youngsters struggled when they tried to climb down. Meanwhile, one of them slipped into a crevice in the rocks and suffered an injury.

One trekker stayed with the injured while Shamnas climbed down the hill to alert the locals. Later, the Karuvakund Police and Fire Force units arrived at the spot and launched a rescue operation.
