Two taken in custody on Friday recruited Alan, Thaha to the Maoist outfit: NIA
Kozhikode: NIA reported that the two among the three who were taken into custody from Kozhikode on Friday, had recruited Alan Shuhaib and Thaha Fazal who were named as accused in the chargesheet on UAPA case at Pantheerankavu here.
Wayanad native Vijith Vijayan , Eldho Wilson and Abhilash Padacherry, an online journalist were arrested after hours-long grilling and raid on Friday. Among them, Vijith and Abhilash were instrumental in recruiting accused Alan and Thaha as members of the banned outfit CPI Maoist.
Following the raids at the residences of Vijith and Abhilash, NIA found that both were associated with the Maoist organization. Among the arrested, Abhilash was released on Friday night under the condition that he should appear before NIA on Saturday at 9 am.
NIA, in the official press statement, informed that they have recovered 8 mobile phones, 7 SIM cards, 2 memory cards, a laptop, 7 pen drives, a voice recorder, 9 books and pamphlets of CPI Maoist group from the residence of the accused.
NIA carried out the search operations in two groups at the residence of the three accused. House occupied by Vijith and Eldho near Pariyangad at Kozhikode and Abhilash’s house near Medical College were raided.
On April 27, NIA filed the charge sheet against arrested accused Alan and Thaha and absconding accused Usman under the IPC, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in a Special NIA court in Ernakulum.
The case was registered on November 1, 2019, in Kozhikode city against the three after the police recovered documents and propaganda material supporting Maoist from Alan and Thaha, while they were conducting a meeting with Usman, who escaped.
They were booked under IPC 120 B, UAPA-13, 38 and 39 for conspiracy, unlawful activities, participation in the banned outfit, illegal camping etc.
