Two die in separate incidents of bee attacks in Kannur, Kasargod


Kannur/Kasargod: Two men died in separate incidents of honey bee attacks in Kannur and Kasargod districts. One of the deceased has been identified as Kunjiraman (78), a dairy farmer residing in Kalliasseri in Kannur. The second victim of bee attack was AP Govindan Nair (84), a former KSFE manager, a native of Pullur in Kasargod.

Kunjiraman was attacked at around 9 am on Thursday, when he went to tie his cow in a field near his house. A part of a beehive on a coconut tree nearby fell on him. Kunjiraman was taken to a private hospital in Pappinisseri, but could not be saved. Four others and the cow were also attacked by the bees.

Govindan Nair was attacked on Saturday evening. He was rescued by locals and taken to the hospital. Nair died on Thursday morning, while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kannur.
