Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala dismissed allegations on involvement of Congress activists in the twin murder of CPM workers at Venjaramoodu here. He criticized that the CPM is trying to raise murder charges against Congress to hide the failure of the LDF government.
"Congress never tried to kill or attack anyone. Now, the administration in Kerala has collapsed, so they are trying to raise murder charges against Congress. These attempts will not be successful. The public will realize the truth,” Chennithala told media here on Monday.
He pointed out that it was not Youth Congress members who were arrested. “Police arrested people who have links with SDPI. I was informed that nobody related to Congress was arrested in the case,” said Chennithala.
He also declared that no political conflict was prevalent in the region.
Attempts are being made to defame Congress and its activists as the government lost its reputation. Let, the police investigate impartially on the murder, added the opposition leader.
Meanwhile, Neyyattinkara DCC president Sanal also claimed that the accused in the case have no links to the Congress.
“The deceased Mithilaj and Haq were named accused in many cases. Mithilaj was booked for attacking a DYFI worker during Onam eve last year. As per information, the revenge between goonda gangs led to the murder,” said DCC president.
