Kochi: Twenty20 lauded the couple, who were beaten up inside the polling booth at Kizhakkambalam on voting day but came back to exercise their franchise.

Twenty20 handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to the couple Printu and Brijitha. Natives of Wayanad district, the couple have been staying in Kizhakkambalam for the last 14 years.

When the couple came to vote, activists of a prominent party attacked them. The activists said that those staying in a rented accommodation will not be allowed to vote. The activists also alleged that Aadhar card was not enough for the couple to vote and that election ID cards were necessary.

The couple subsequently left the spot. However, they came back in the afternoon and casted their votes with the help of the police.
