Thiruvananthapuram: Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran said that the Tourism Department’s tweet inviting MLAs of Karnataka to the resorts in Kerala benefitted the tourism industry a lot. The national media reported the incident and this attracted a lot of attention to Kerala Tourism. A simple tweet did the impact of an advertisement worth crores of rupees, he said.
The tweet on the official website of the tourism department said: “After the rough and tumble of the Karnataka verdict, we invite all the MLAs to unwind at the safe and beautiful resorts of God’s Own Country.” However, the tweet was later deleted. It was widely criticized that the tweet refers to the resort politics.
‘It was a powerful battle that took place in Karnataka. The winners are more tired than the lost ones. We invited them just to relax. It was a good marketing strategy. We deleted it after some people criticized it,’ the minister said. Kadakampally Surendran had shared the tweet on Facebook.
