Akbar Shah, Visuals of attack
Thiruvananthapuram: A woman has lodged a complaint against her husband and in-laws, who frequently harassed her in the name of dowry. She accused her husband Venjaramoodu native Akbar Shah of physically and mentally tormenting her often after consuming liquor. Though complaints were lodged, no actions were proceeded as he could overturn the cases with his political influence, alleged the complainant.
The woman complained that the accused Akbar Shah attempted to drive her and the children away from his house. He had dragged her through the road and denied her to have food and water. He used to exhibit nudity in front of their daughter and did not stop the act even after she warned him several times.
She also accused her mother-in-law and sister-in-law of assaulting her. It was her mother-in-law, who had beaten up her for the first time after the marriage, reads the complaint.
“I had put up with all the traumas by thinking about my children. My family intervened to resolve the issues. But all those attempts turned futile,” she told Mathrubhumi News.
The complainant claimed that her husband Akbar Shah is a CPI worker. Hence, he utilised his political influence to dismiss the complaints she lodged against him. The cops behaved irresponsibly and rudely when she went to the station to lodge a complaint, she said. When she informed the police that he used to display nudity in front of her daughter, the cops advised her not to include it in the complaint.
The woman got married to Akbar Shah in 2012. Her in-laws used to abuse her frequently. Later, the couple shifted to the complainant’s house and then to a rented house. Currently, she is living in her house and alleged that the husband did not take care of any of the children’s needs. Meanwhile, she has produced the visuals and photos of Akbar Shah's attacks against her.
