Thiruvananthapuram: A woman who was allegedly stabbed by her neighbour died while undergoing treatment at Govt. Medical College here on Thursday. The deceased is identified as Vijayakumari (50), hailing from Thannimoodu.
She was hospitalised after a neighbour stabbed her in the neck using a wooden stick during a ruckus followed by dispute over land boundary. The accused is identified as Aneesh (28).
Vijayakumari, a widow was living in the house along with her only daughter Shivakala, a diploma student.
She was attacked on Sunday afternoon. Aneesh recently bought land adjoining Vijayakumari’s house. However, both were not on good terms due to disputes over the boundary. On Sunday, Aneesh arrived at the place with his cousin Nikhil (21) and filmed Vijayakumari rinsing clothes in front of her. When she questioned this, Aneesh stabbed her in the neck using a stick lying in front of the house. Both fled the place soon after the incident.
Shivakala, daughter of Vijayakumari, who was inside the house at the time of the incident rushed her injured mother to Thiruvananthapuram medical college.
Vijayakumari had undergone emergency surgery at the medical college. She was in critical condition at the ICU. It is learnt that the injury on her neck affected her speaking ability too.
Neyyatinkara police inspector KR Biju and team took the accused into custody.
