Thiruvananthapuram: A person at Vettur in Varkala here on Wednesday was taken into custody after a purported video of his mother-in-law brutally thrashing his child, made rounds on social media. According to locals, the three-year-old girl is a victim of regular high-handedness from family members.
The video of the brutal attack was videographed and shared on social media by a neighbour. Social activist Anil Cherunniyoor along with other locals lodged a police complaint and the development comes in this context. Anil also intimated the matter to Women & Child Development Department official concerned.
Meanwhile, both the person’s wife and mother-in-law are reportedly absconding. It is learnt that the duo fled to relatives' houses as the video went viral on social media.
