Reportedly, while Ranjith was trying to enter the building to douse the fire, a concrete structure collapsed and fell over him. Following this, he was pulled out of the debris by fellow officers and rushed to the hospital, but to no avail.

“He (Ranjith) was a sincere guy who always stepped forward in any emergency situation and worked cooperatively,” Ranjith’s colleague told Mathrubhumi News.

Ranjith, who has been serving in the Chakka unit for almost an year, had earlier worked in the Mavelikkara fire unit.
