Thiruvananthapuram: The relatives of firefighter Ranjith, who lost his life while attempting to douse the fire which erupted in Kinfra Industrial Park, have decided to donate the officer’s eyes. The fire broke out at the Medical Services Corporation storage facility in the Park around 1.30 am on Tuesday.
Ranjith, a native of Attingal, had been part of the Kerala Fire and Rescue Services for more than six years. He was an officer of the Chakka fire brigade unit located near Kinfra Park.
Reportedly, while Ranjith was trying to enter the building to douse the fire, a concrete structure collapsed and fell over him. Following this, he was pulled out of the debris by fellow officers and rushed to the hospital, but to no avail.
“He (Ranjith) was a sincere guy who always stepped forward in any emergency situation and worked cooperatively,” Ranjith’s colleague told Mathrubhumi News.
Ranjith, who has been serving in the Chakka unit for almost an year, had earlier worked in the Mavelikkara fire unit.
