Thiruvananthapuram: Crime Branch team probing the letter controversy in Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation continue to remain in the dark over finding the letter allegedly written by Mayor Arya Rajendran. As of now, the probe team only has the screenshot of the alleged letter sent to the CPM district secretary.
Meanwhile, Crime Branch filed a report suggesting the need to launch a detailed probe to find the missing letter.
Earlier, two letters allegedly sent by Mayor and DR Anil have come out, evoking furious responses from opposition parties against LDF-ruled Corporation. However, Crime Branch failed to find the original copy of the letter shared on WhatsApp groups of CPM cadres. As a result, the probe team are unable to verify the letter's authenticity.
Meanwhile, Mayor has denied any misconduct in the matter. This has placed the probe team in a tough spot to either find the original letter or give a clean chit to the Mayor.
Further, the probe team will also send the letter to forensic examination once it is retrieved. Therefore, Crime Branch is planning to register a case and carry out a detailed probe to find the missing letter. Meanwhile, CPM district secretary Anavoor Nagappan failed to appear before the probe team for recording his statement. His statement was later collected via phone.
