Thiruvananthapuram: CPM district secretary Anavoor Nagappan said that the party would look into the controversial letter allegedly sent by Mayor Arya Rajendran favouring the appointment of party workers in Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation. When asked if the letter was forged, he said he didn't know.
"We will take legal action. The party is examining the incident," he said.
"The media have been targeting the party for so long. Many allegations were raised against the corporation but all turned out to be false. The mayor and the corporation secretary had exposed corruption in the local body. You were not interested in reporting that. But the media and the opposition are now attacking the mayor," he said while addressing the media on Sunday.
He also dismissed opposition parties' demand for the mayor's resignation. “I didn't receive any letter from the mayor. If the allegations are proven to be correct, strict action will be taken, even against party workers,” he added.
