TVM corp row: Letter was fabricated, claims Crime Branch

Thiruvananthapuram: Crime Branch probing the letter controversy in Thiruvananthapuram corporation has reported that somebody fabricated the letter to defame mayor Arya Rajendran and the corporation. Noticing this, the Crime Branch has registered a case under charges including fabrication of documents. The case was registered after receiving a complaint from the mayor.

In the FIR, the Crime Branch claimed that somebody purposefully fabricated the letter when the mayor was out of station. Mayor Arya Rajendran was in New Delhi from October 31 to November 4 for attending an event organised by DYFI. It is assumed that somebody misused the mayor’s letterhead when she was not in the office.
Crime Branch DySP Jaleel Thottathil who carried out the preliminary investigation registered the FIR.

Earlier, the probe team recorded the statement of Arya Rajendran and CPM district secretary Anavoor Nagappan over the case.

The letter first appeared on a WhatsApp group of CPM.

It is alleged that mayor Arya Rajendran has written a letter to the CPM district secretary seeking a list of CPM candidates for appointments in the corporation.
